MHCC Receives AHDI (ACCP) Approval

29 April 2010 No Comment

Congratulations to Mt. Hood Community College (Portland, Oregon) for achieving AHDI approval at the April meeting of the Approval Committee for Certificate Programs (ACCP).

Mt. Hood Community College has offered the Associate of Applied Science 2-year degree program in Medical Transcription since 1996. Classes are continually updated to incorporate new technology and industry needs as identified by our Advisory Board of local medical transcription leaders.

As a core strength of the community college environment, faculty are specialists in their content area. For example, anatomy and physiology classes are taught by instructors with advanced degrees in those subjects. Medical transcription classes are taught by Certified Medical Transcriptionists who provide personal, one-on-one feedback. Classes are available in traditional, online, and hybrid formats.

Graduates have the skills and knowledge necessary to meet the requirements of the profession. This outcome is ensured through 360 hours of externship work completed in local hospitals, clinics, or transcription services. The medical transcription degree from MHCC can transfer to Concordia University in Portland and be used towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Care Administration
